the industry as a whole. studio ATARA is seeking an enthusiastic creative Design Studio
Assistant to join their team as an intern. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a
passionate, proactive attitude who can take initiative and contribute their own creative
ideas. The role will primarily focus on administrative tasks, providing support to team
members, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the studio.

supplier showrooms and project sites. In-studio guidance on gathering inspiration for
designs, creating concepts, sourcing products and liaising with suppliers, clients and
contractors. You will be given more responsibilities as proficiency in these areas is shown
and develops.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Studio Operations and Maintenance
    • Managing the general running and maintenance of the studio
    • Maintenance of the studio’s systems, samples library, catalogues and
      supplies.
  • Creative and Design Support
    • Generating ideas and content for social media platforms, following the
      studio’s style and branding.
    • Sketching, drawing, and supporting all phases of design work.
    • Assisting with the preparation of project proposals, presentations, and
      summaries.
  • Administrative and Coordination Tasks
    • Handling administrative tasks, including managing correspondence (via
      phone and email) and coordinating meetings.
    • Assisting with billing and invoicing processes, including tracking expenses
      and payments.
    • Managing the supplier database, building connections with new suppliers.
  • Research and Development
    • Research, source and process payments for products from suppliers
    • Developing knowledge of suppliers – including managing the supplier
      database
    • Researching and categorising the sustainability of suppliers and actual samples
    • Research and discover new suppliers and create connections

Key Requirements:

  • Administrative experience, preferably within the design or creative industry
  • Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and in writing
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Social media experience
  • Design experience, whether through studies, interests, or previous work experience
  • Fresh creative ideas and a demonstrated interest in interior design
  • Good sketching/drawing skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite – Docs, Sheets and Slides

The right candidate will have:

  • Initiative, be creative and engage!
  • A good understanding and appreciation of sustainable design principles including
    nature
  • inspired, Biophilic design
  • Qualifications in A’ Level (or equivalent) and above in a creative/design-based
    subject.
  • Examples of previous work via a portfolio/similar.
  • Experience and knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Design) and/or drawing
    software.
  • Proficient in Adobe suite or similar software a plus.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Note: Due to funding restrictions, this role is open to Islington residents aged 18-25 only.

Hours: 200 hours total. 2 days per week for 3 months. LLW £13.85 per hour. Exact hours to be agreed with the creative director.
